I’ve been spending a lot of time recently in the Botanic Gardens in Cambridge as I work nearby and have a free pass. I discovered this fetching piece of twig whilst I was wandering about.
Some might say it is just a twig but I sense it might be more. Look at that eye in the top photo and the mouth in the bottom. It reminds me of a snake. So I welcomed the snake wand into my home.
I had no idea what would happen thereafter…
My family and I were sitting at the dining table talking about Harry Potter and we decided to find out what sorting house we belonged to.
A question for you – Have you been sorted? Which house do you belong to Sisters of The Fey?
We did the official quiz which according to my daughter is meant to be very accurate.
My eldest daughter was sorted into Ravenclaw which fits her. My husband into Griffindor, and my youngest is a Hufflepuff (she wasn’t with us at the time but swears she’s done the quiz before,) and me into…
(Oops Griffindor and Slytherin aren’t meant to get on!)
What will hubby say!
Then my eldest daughter lightened the moment by saying I have Hufflepuff qualities, such as: Dedication / loyalty: (Hufflepuffs tend to be loyal to their House and the ones they love: family, friends, or their significant other.) They are not afraid of hard work, whether it is school, a job, or anything else. This is true of me as I am working a 45 hour week, plus blogging and writing when I can.
Perhaps like Harry Potter I could be sorted into two houses – the decision is mine.
I have to say the Slytherin revelation shocked me but didn’t seem to have the same effect on my family. They weren’t surprised at all! Then I got to thinking – I’d just found a wand that looked like a snake and Slytherin wizards are meant to be: cunning, clever, resourceful, determined, self-preserving, and ambitious.
Their element is water – I love and feel a definite affinity with the sea.
They are part of a fraternity – I enjoy being part of a team of writers!
They are cunning – Okay I admit it, at times I can be a bit sneaky.
They are determined – I am loyal but fierce and fiery when riled.
They are ambitious – I like to be the boss and don’t like being told what to do!
They are drawn to the dark. I write dark fantasy with elements of light.
All these years I’ve been a Slytherin… and not realised. Where are my naughty tribe of witches… Lol… Please come find me! I’m beginning to think it’s true. In fact now any time I do anything dark and deliciously wicked I just laugh and say I’m a Slytherin!!!!
I’m enjoying this!
I’ve always loved Merlin and he’s the best known Slytherin around.
In fact he appears in The Curse of Time Book 2 Golden Healer which I am currently working on…
My favourite YA Author Jay Kristoff is a Slytherin.
Do you like my little wand? It is small but perhaps it will give me magical Slytherin superpowers…
Any advice about how to wield its snaky magic will be gratefully received.
To the plants, trees and flowers – a heart-felt smile – I may be a little wicked but I have some redeeming qualities!
