As we move further into the Samhain season, there is often a strong emphasis on remembering and connecting to our ancestors and dead loved ones. A secondary theme that we find is the idea of a so-called ‘thinning of the veil’ as a way to describe the increased activity by spirits and easier perception of the Otherworld. This increased Otherworldly presence is felt by those connecting to the dead who find human ghosts and the like more active and easily communicated with, and many Samhain traditions centre on this.

    1. I leave offerings to the fey and to my house spirits on these special sabbats. I think they like to be recognized and I have a peaceful household. Samhain is about honoring our ancestors. Interesting how ‘La Dia de los Muertos’ – the day of the dead (November 1st) is so entertwined in the mythology of Halloween. I’ll be writing a post about this. ❤
